Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 5 years, you’ll have noticed the chatter of Crypto echo around you at a louder and louder volume. It’s becoming plain as day that the technological advancements of blockchain and web3 are changing certain aspects of our lives in ways that you may not fully realise.

Whether it’s digital assets such as Bitcoin, Solana or Ethereum, the world is waking up to new ways of controlling money and concepts of ownership – and in todays volatile world, it seems fitting to discover more about technologies. And this isn’t simply between you and me. It’s also climbed up to the rarified air of movie stars and celebrities.

Which is understandable thinking about it. Of course business minded A-listers are going to be interested in this. One of the biggest reasons for this interest lies in its potential. Look at Bitcoin, the leading crypto, which has risen by a walloping 6,363,636,263% over its lifetime. The direction of these tools has gone from strength to strength and it seem almost reckless not to learn more about them.

In this article, we’re highlighting some of the big names out there that not only have an interest in Crypto, they’re willingly and openly supporting it. Let’s dive right in and find out who.

Ashton Kutcher

Ever since Ashton, grooved into screen during The 70’s Show, playing the care free, dim-witted and loveable Michael, it would have been hard to think that years later he’d be advocating for digital crypto currency.

Of course, since those youthful shenanigans he’s gone from role to role, adding to his magnetic pull and allure. But behind this, his business minded approach to things seems to have struck well and hard. He showed an immediate interest in AirBnB, Uber and Spotify which certainly showed foresight and then his more recent project Sound Ventures has beared fruit too (with neary 1bn dollars in assets). Ellen Digeneras also recieved a remarkable donation (4 million dollars in XRP) towards her charity that supports wildlife.

So, on top of fond memories, great movies and enviable hair, Ashton is also showing us where his interests and plans lie for future investments.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Yes, even though many of her roles come across as the meek and mild type. Gwyneth in real life is something of a warlord of business. As if selling ‘feminine’ scented candles wasn’t enough, she has also created a Crypto wallet to complement a lifestyle brand that rivals some of the most established names in the industry.

While some may argue that this is more of a marketing tactic, jumping on a moving ride without knowing the rules, this is ultimately irrelevant. The fact that the was a compulsion to do so highlights the growth and overall interest thats building towards these technologies.

For Goop (her brand’s name) to be truly successful in this regard, it would certainly be better to see more interest and a deeper understanding form Gwyneth. It’s great that she is propelling this topic into a larger female audience, as Web3 is certainly weighted on the male side at present.

Matt Damon

Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting was a giant success. He even wrote the script. From this moment, he has been involved in some absolutely brilliant films, like Rounders, the Bourne Identity, Elysium, and more recently The Martian.

In many of these movies, the characters he plays show one thing in particular. Determination. All seem to reflect the message he gave out regarding crypto. That the brave are the ones who take control of the future. they are the ones that make up the stories of tomorrow.

His endorsement of Crypto was a bold step; one that he took knowing of the backlash that would likely follow. But, with anything new and complex, people will inevitably feel it easier to ridicule than to risk for reward.

Paris Hilton

While not technically a movie star, her celebrity status captured the interest of a whole generation in the 90’s. It would be foolish to say that she doesn’t have a remarkable sway over those that follow her on her incredibly weighty social media accounts.

Her own interest in these new technologies isn’t secluded to Crypto either but also in NFTs. She recently bought out her own collection ‘Past Lives, New Beginnings’, showing a modern take to her already successful business endeavours.

The tip of the iceberg

Ultimately the list of clelebs and movie stars is far reaching – Magnus Carlson, Lionel Messi, Mike Tyson, Kim Kardashion, Reese Weatherspoon and many many others have all shown an interest in Web3 in some form or another.

Their particular position here is one that will have a great impact on this tech moving forward. The real question is how involved do these names wish to get involved? Are they really in it because of a genuine interest in its potential, or are they jumping on the fastest wagon rolling by?

What we know for certain is that Web3, Crypto and Blockchain technologies are setting their foot firmly into the ground. They have confidently altered many aspects of or lives and reach comfortably into many other industries, besides movies and TV. It is very possible that one day (and not too distant) we will discuss these innovative and digital creations as we do now about the internet or with iPhones.
